BREEDERS OF CHAMPION AND SHOW WINNING MINIATURE DONKEYS

Ann has always had a passion for animals and strived for education in her chosen fields believing those that claim to know it all have learnt little,

you simply never stop learning where animals are concerned.

She sucessfully completed the following courses over the years.

# Open college of Equine Studies
# British Horse Society Stage 1 & British Horse Society Stage ll
# Canine Behaviour Dog Study Course
# Jan Fennell Foundation Course in Canine Communication ( as endorsed by Monty Roberts)



Two fact finding trips in 2005 and again in 2006 to the Top Miniature Donkey shows in the USA enabled Ann to see for herself the
very best show stock in America helping her to see what sort of Donkey was needed to reach her goals at a time when the breed was very much in its
infancy in the UK.   Not only did she see what was needed she helped prepare and show the Donkeys which was invaluable.

Ann has almost completed her DBS Judges course  which was delayed for a year by the loss of Johnny Paycheck in 2009,
however Ann will be a fully fledged judge in 2012.

She sees judging very much as a challenge to find the best Donkey ON THE DAY not being interested in who owns it, whether she likes the owner
 or what it has won previsouly, not wishing to damage the Breed by giving false results and
having the courage of her convictions and being able to sleep easy!

I have now reached a milestone, 30 years of producing, showing & breeding healthy beautiful dogs and latterly equines. 

 Where has the time gone?

Our record shows the experience, having bred Top level Champion and winning stock in good numerically strong classes, along with honesty
 & integrity shown both here at Arranbrook and now our top winning Breckamore (www.smooth-collies.com) collies

  Over the years we have built up a herd of Select Miniature Donkeys including Multiple Champions and Inhand show Champions. 
Our Donkeys win in very strong competition and always have.  From 2004 we imported the best available and from the start they were winning. 
My first Donkey, who is still here and will never be sold was a DBS Yearling Champion and Royal Highland Show Reserve Mare Champion.

I have done away with my Awards Page as it simply got to long I now just list major wins.

Nowadays we breed our own home bred stock for the showring.  Believing  as a breeder your only as good as what you breed, any fool can repeatedly buy in stock. 
Our homebred Donkeys are superior both in conformation and temperament but with added style
and stunning pretty head and eye appeal.  We have our Second Generation of Arranbrook Donkeys in Arranbrook Bedazzled by Arranbrook Bobby Dazzler.

 We breed Donkeys which will stand out in the show ring and later make a valuable contribution to the future of the breed.   
My lifelong interest in Horses, Ponies & Hounds with almost 30 years of showing Collies, means I have always had an understanding of fluid movement with Correct Conformation ,which I do not believe can be taught, you either fully understand it or you don't.   
I  have strictly applied this throughout my Personal selection / breeding program.   I presently serve on two Donkey Breed Society Committee's and after many years of refusing to judge collies am about to embark on this.

We Freely offer help & advice

Should you wish to pay us a visit we have many local Hotels and B&B's a short drive away as we are in Gods own Country the heart of North Yorkshire,
James Herriots Country.

I would be pleased to collect visitors from Leeds / Bradford airport or York railway Station by prior arrangement. 
We are close to the A1M. M1. M62 links.  With the A1 being 10 minutes drive from our idyllic farm.

Besides breeding Champions we have exported Donkeys to Belgium, France, The Netherlands and Ireland

 Also having customers in the Midlands, all over the South of England and Scotland.

My goal has always been to produce Miniature Donkeys that are as close to the National Miniature Donkey Association's / DBS Breed Standards as possible. 

 As we are the ONLY Stud to have bred a DBS Champion as well as a DBS Reserve Champion we feel we have achieved our goals but strive for more homebred Champions. 

By Champions, we mean overall show Champions and DBS Champions not Points Champions I have little interest in that sort of winning personally.

I originally imported KKR Silk who now resides at Wynnfield stud.  She is the Dam of a Champion foal.
